In an exclusive interview with Japanese newspaper The Asahi Shimbun, Naruto creator Masashi Kishimoto has announced that although the long-running manga series concluded on November 10 in Japan, he still has plans to write manga. “I will continue creating manga,” he said. “I will release extra Naruto episodes next spring.” He did not elaborate on what the extra chapters would be about, but many fans are pointing to the story possibly being about the children of the title character, Naruto Uzumaki, Boruto and Himawari.
Kishimoto, a noted recluse, also disclosed that he had helped write the story for the latest upcoming film adaptation, The Last: Naruto The Movie, which will hit Japanese theaters on December 6. A musical adaptation and a museum exhibition containing artwork from the manga are also planned for 2015. Naruto has been one of the highest bestselling manga worldwide since debuting in 1999.
